Every month, it runs a thorough check of your engine, transmission, antilock brakes and more, so you known your vehicle’s key systems are good to go. It also checks your tire pressure, which can help maximize your fuel economy and your oil life so you only need to change your oil when it’s time. If you want a diagnostics check between emails, just push the OnStar button, and an Advisor can run a check while you’re driving. That’s peace of mind, when you need it.

OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics (OVD) is a powerfully simple way to know what your vehicle’s key operating systems need. It offers peace of mind by checking in with you every month to help make sure your vehicle is ready for the road. There are two features.

1. Monthly Email Report
   
   
   • Every month, it automatically sends you an email with the results of hundreds of checks of your engine, transmission, antilock brakes and more.
   • Simple color-coded icons make the report easy to review in seconds. A green icon next to a system means no issues were found. A yellow icon tells you action is suggested. And a red icon means you need to take action immediately.
   • If your vehicle is equipped, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System helps you manage your vehicle’s tire pressure. It lets you know if your tires are properly inflated, which can save you over $80 a year on gas.
   • The Engine Oil Life System tells you exactly when to change your oil based on how you drive. It also tells you when you’re due for scheduled maintenance.
   • The OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics (OVD) email report is available at no extra charge for OnStar subscribers.
2. Dealer Maintenance Notification
   

   When your OnStar Diagnostics report indicates that your vehicle is ready for maintenance, you don’t even need to pick up the phone to call us. Instead, you can select to have a copy of your Diagnostics report sent directly to us as your Preferred Dealer. This service, called Dealer Maintenance Notification, must be initiated by you, either during the OnStar Welcome Call subscription set-up or from your Diagnostics email. Simply select Jim Crivelli Chevrolet as your preferred dealer and you’ll have one less appointment to remember to schedule! Then we’ll contact you when your vehicle is due for an oil change, tire rotation, or mileage-interval service as well as necessary recalls on your vehicle. That’s how to Drive Happy.
